Gathering with friends and family
We enjoy getting together with friends and family throughout the year. They truly are a great support system for us. Birthdays vary from lavish celebrations to simple dinner and cake. Warm seasons invite backyard barbecues with friends, featuring delicious food, great music and lively corn-hole matches. Connecting with older generations brings joy—whether watching sports with my family or fishing and clamming with Jason’s father, followed by grilling our catch. We can’t wait to share these wonderful moments with our child.
Friends and families
We love getting together with our friends and families to celebrate birthdays. They are a special time to reflect on the year that has passed and plan great things for the year to come. We go to my family’s home for birthday dinners followed by cake and presents. Other times we gather with friends to help them celebrate their children’s birthdays with cookouts and bouncy castles and fun for all ages. Sharing these celebrations with our child will be a wonderful way to keep close with our families, both related and extended.
Backyard barbecues
Backyard barbecues are an important way for us to spend time with our friends and families. They start as soon as the snow melts and will go well into the fall. Jason will make something on the smoker like ribs or his famous meat lollipops while I’ll prepare the sides. I’ll set up a great playlist on the Bluetooth speaker and eventually the corn-hole comes out and the fun really begins. Hanging out, laughing, eating and playing are all the elements we need for a good time with the closest people to us.
Fishing
Jason learned to fish and live off the land from his father, known as Papa, and they still enjoy it to this day. When the tides are right, we go out on Papa’s boat looking for striper, cod or anything we can cook up. When it’s low tide we go to the beach or clam flats in search of quahogs and steamers. We usually find more than enough for ourselves so our friends and family end up with the extras, which is always appreciated. We look forward to strengthening the bonds between the generations on the water with our child.
